Mahogany Vessel

9" tall by 5.75" Wide

Sun and Moon 2

Walnut, Maple, Curly Maple,Ebony, Pecan, Mahogany, Pau Amarillo, Bloodwood, Cherry.
414 Pieces, 41 hours.

Similar to the original, I added a floating bottom to accommodate wood movement, minor changes to the shape, and changed the sun and moon segments.

First Turning

Had fun at the lathe today.

Top is held on with carpet tape and exterior is shaped

The top was removed and interior wall was refined. The top gets pre-turned tomorrow.

After spending a day with Dave Hout last
August, I had to give metal spinning a try.
I made my own tool rest and tools.
The spoon shown here is 3 feet long.
I thought my bowl gouge was big!

New Segment Calculator

Added more features to the calculator today. Now it will calculate the board length required to make the ring and do so based on the cutting method used. You can also enter values as decimal, or as a fraction.
